POWER ZONE Guidelines

Because the safety of your child is a priority in POWER ZONE, we have several guidelines we would like to make you aware of:

First-Time visitors will need to pre-register for POWER ZONE programming. You can pre-register when you visit the POWER ZONE Information Booth located in the Fellowship Hall.

We will not accept children into classrooms until two unrelated POWER ZONE volunteers or staff members are present to begin check-in. Do not leave your child unsupervised for any length of time in any classroom.

Children will be accepted 10 minutes before programming is scheduled to begin, no sooner.

Check-in will end 15 minutes after the start of each service. At this time, POWER ZONE doors will be closed.  Should you arrive after check-in has closed, please check-in at the POWER ZONE Information Booth.

Classroom child to adult ratios will be enforced. Should your child’s classroom exceed our established ratios, a member of the POWER ZONE staff will inform you of any necessary procedures.

Parents or guardians MUST present an identification label (obtained during check-in) to the POWER ZONE volunteer or staff person in the classroom to check out their child at the end of programming. Children will not be released without an identification label. If necessary, a photo id may be requested.

Children will only be released to an adult or a teenage sibling who has the correct identification label.

Children are to be picked up immediately after programming is complete. Children consistently left waiting in the classroom after programming has ended will be taken to the Children’s Ministries Office for pick-up.

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform POWER ZONE of any allergies or special needs for their child(ren). Unless otherwise communicated, snacks or food may be served during POWER ZONE programming.

Please do not send personal items to class with your non-nursery aged child(ren). If your child is in the nursery, please make sure all personal items (diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, etc.) are permanently marked with the child’s first and last name.

In an effort to control the spread of illness, children exhibiting any signs of illness will not be admitted into the nursery or classrooms. Please do not bring your child if (s)he has: discolored mucus, fever in the last 24 hours, vomited in the last 24 hours, diarrhea, contagious skin rash, discharge from the eye, pink eye. Any child exhibiting any of these symptoms will be removed and the parents contacted for pick-up.

It is our policy that any volunteer working with minors at Gethsemane United Methodist Church must complete an Application for Working with Minors and a background check.

For their safety, children are not permitted to play unsupervised on the church premises at any time, including Sundays.

For their safety, children are not permitted to roam around the church unsupervised at any time, including Sundays.
