Gethsemane Softball Team – The Gethsemane Flames had a great first season with the local Christian Softball League.  Sign-ups for this year are going on now.

Covered Dish Dinners – What church would be complete without them? We have many gatherings throughout the year including Thanksgiving, our Annual Church Picnic, and Easter.

Small Group Ministry – Our church’s goal is that every member will be involved in a small group by 2007.  Small groups meet according to the members’ schedules and are a place where people can be nurtured and cared for, as well as where one can learn more and grow deeper in their faith.  Read below about one of our many small groups…

Spotlight on Small Groups
Singles Group led by Amanda Davis and Sandy Truitt

This month, we feature one of our newest groups, our Singles group, led by Amanda Davis and Sandy Truitt.  Mandy and Sandy thought it would be good to be part of a group of Christian single, so this past spring, they started this group together.  The group is open to all single adults (never married, divorced, widowed), male and female, from college age on.  They meet at the church on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Linda's office (go left from the front door, first room on the right).  Child care is provided at the church.  They have studied The Search for Significance, by Robert McGee.  This best-selling book has changed the lives of many people by helping its readers find true self-worth, based on the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.  The group chose to merge with Fran Todd's Crown Financial class.  Next we will study The Five Love Languages for Singles.

One of the unique features of this group is their monthly social activities.  In addition to its Sunday meetings, this group also plans a monthly social function (such as going to the movies, cook-outs, game nights, bowling, etc.), some with children and some without.  Most recently, the group got together at Angela Anderson's house for a game night.  The children played pool, twister and checkers while the adults worked their "Craniums."  On April 5, we are having a bonfire.  If you would like to meet other single people in our church family, this is the group for you.  Mandy and Sandy invite all singles to come on out and join them for fellowship, fun and study.  For more information, call Mandy at (302)337-8761 or Sandy at (302)628-8303.

Women’s Ministry – Throughout the year the women of our church have many fellowship opportunities including working together through the United Methodist Women, who meet once a month to plan activities in order to raise money for ministries with youth and children.  Our women also travel annually to the “Women of Faith Conference” in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and hold an Annual Women’s Day at Gethsemane.  Recently, the church held a “Celebration of Women” Banquet.
